The MAPT is a full member of the EFPT which is an independent federation of psychiatric trainees associations. The MAPT supports the EFPT’s goals which are:
- To explore the diversity and richness of current training of psychiatrists in Europe;
- To support the development of national trainees’ organizations in all European countries;
- To promote and represent internationally the views of the trainees in all branches of psychiatry;
- To translate the discussion of trainees into action at a local level to improve training.
The MAPT was represented during the 26th and 27th EFPT Forums by Dr Giovanni Grech and Dr Fabrizia Cassar. During the last Forum Dr Giovanni Grech took the role of EFPT Exchange Working Group Chair.
The MAPT has recently launched its Exchange program in Acute Psychiatry and has successfully hosted its first applicant in October 2019. More details about the program can be found here.
